Privacy Policy

Peel Japanese collects as little as possible.

It is run by Bisaya.dev, a business registered in the Philippines. "I" and "me" below mean that business, and you can reach me at [email protected].

The free course needs no account#

Kana, numbers, particles, and the free stories work without signing up. Your progress there is stored on your own device, in your browser, and is never sent to me. If you never buy, I never learn anything about you - there is no account and nothing to collect.

If you buy#

A purchase comes with an account, so that your progress can follow you across devices. I store your email address and your password (encrypted, never in a readable form), along with your learning progress, saved words, and app preferences. You confirm your email address when you sign up, because that address is the only way back into your account if you forget your password, and it carries what you paid for.

Payments#

Purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record for the sale. Your card details go to Lemon Squeezy and never to me - I never see or store them. Lemon Squeezy handles your payment and receipt under their own privacy policy.

Where it's kept#

The app and its database run on a single server, and the story audio is served from Cloudflare's storage. Both may be located outside your country.

What I don't do#

No ads, no third-party trackers, no analytics following you around, no selling your data. Ever. The only cookie the site sets is the one that keeps you signed in.

Your data is yours#

Email me and I'll tell you what I hold on your account, or delete it. Deleting the account ends access to the paid course on the server, though anything already downloaded to your device stays on your device.
